GUIDED GROUP TOUR VS SELF-DRIVE RENTAL
Both are valid ways to ride Ladakh. Here is what actually changes between joining a fixed departure like this one and renting a bike to plan your own route.
Best If You Want Zero Logistics
- ✓ Fixed departure date, 10–12 rider batch — nothing to plan yourself
- ✓ A backup 4x4 support truck and professional mechanic ride with the convoy
- ✓ Inner Line / PAP permits are processed before you land
- ✓ Hotels, meals, and riding gear are all arranged for you
- ✓ A native Ladakhi marshal leads the route and handles the unexpected
Because a guide, mechanic, support truck, hotels, meals, and gear all travel with you, a guided seat costs more than a bare bike rental — you are paying for everything that removes risk and planning from the trip.
Best If You Want Full Route Freedom
- ✓ You choose your own route, pace, and daily riding distance
- ✓ Flexible pick-up dates — no fixed batch to match
- ✗ You handle your own permit paperwork and accommodation bookings
- ✗ No support truck riding with you — breakdowns and altitude issues are yours to manage
- ✗ Best suited to riders with prior high-altitude or mechanical experience
You only pay for the motorcycle itself — every other dependency (permits, route planning, mechanical trouble, emergency backup) becomes something you either handle yourself or arrange separately.

What are the confirmed May 2027 Ladakh group tour dates?
Our confirmed eight-day May 2027 Leh-to-Leh group tours run 1–8 May, 8–15 May, 15–22 May and 22–29 May. There are 23 confirmed departures across April–October 2027. Each batch starts and ends in Leh; view the calendar for all start and end dates.
Our 8-Day Leh-to-Leh High Pass Group Circuit ($1,450) is the #1 booked tour for riders taking a short 8 day leave! You fly straight into Leh (IXL), pick up your Royal Enfield bike, and cover Khardung La (17,582 ft), Nubra Valley (Hunder sand dunes), Shyok river route, Pangong Tso Lake, Hanle Dark Sky Observatory, Umling La Pass (19,024 ft - World's Highest Motorable Road), and the Indus valley return to Leh. Foreign passport holders ride an alternative high pass in place of Umling La, which stays closed to them; Hanle is open on a Protected Area Permit.
Yes! Our 8-Day Leh-to-Leh fixed departure circuit is specifically planned so you can cover all major high pass highlights — Khardung La, Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Hanle, and Umling La — in just 8 days (7 nights). It starts and ends at Leh Airport, making it seamless for riders taking short leaves.
Absolutely! Over 75% of our riders each season are solo travelers or couples flying into Leh. You will join a vibrant batch of 10–12 riders. Our pre-trip WhatsApp group connects you with your batch-mates before you even land in Leh.
We provide complimentary airport pickup from Leh Airport (IXL) on Day 1. Day 1 is kept dedicated to 48-hour high-altitude acclimatization at our Leh base camp hotel (3,500m), followed by afternoon motorcycle allocation, test riding, and route safety briefing.
The 8-Day Leh-to-Leh Group Tour costs $1,450 per person. This includes: Royal Enfield bike with fuel, hotels & lakeview glamping camps (twin-sharing), daily breakfast & dinner, riding gear (helmet, jacket, knee guards — gloves are not included), Inner Line / PAP permits, backup support truck, certified mechanic, oxygen cylinders, and group bonfires.
Yes. Every fixed departure date listed on our calendar is 100% confirmed and guaranteed to run. Even if a batch has fewer riders, we absorb operational costs and your trip proceeds as scheduled.
Yes. Foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) for Nubra, Pangong, and Hanle. Ladakh Bikers handles all PAP processing before you arrive — just submit your passport & visa details upon booking.
Safety is paramount. Our backup support truck carries medical-grade portable oxygen cylinders, pulse oximeters, trauma kits, satellite communication, and spare parts. Dual native Ladakhi marshals lead and sweep every convoy.
Yes! Rider + pillion pairs are very common on our 8-Day Leh circuit. Pillion passengers enjoy all stays, meals, gear, support truck luggage transfer, and group activities at a discounted rate.
Riders must be 18+ with a valid motorcycle driver's license (Indian DL or International Driving Permit for foreign nationals). Pillion riders must be 12+. No upper age limit, provided you are in good physical health for high altitudes.
Yes! You can add 2–3 extra days for a Zanskar Valley or Spiti Valley extension after your 8-day circuit ends in Leh. We offer daily Royal Enfield rentals ($24–$40/day) from our Karzu Rd workshop.
Book with just $150 deposit via card, UPI or bank transfer. The balance is paid on Day 1 in Leh. Full deposit refund for cancellations 30+ days prior; free date transfer up to 15 days before departure.
A guided group departure like this one brings a native Ladakhi marshal, a backup 4x4 support truck, a mechanic, hotels, meals, riding gear, and pre-processed permits along with you on a fixed date — so nothing depends on your own planning or mechanical know-how. A self-drive rental gives you full route freedom and flexible dates, but every one of those dependencies — permit paperwork, accommodation, navigation, and handling a breakdown or altitude issue on your own — becomes your responsibility. That extra support is also why a guided seat costs more than a bare bike rental: you're paying for everything that removes risk and logistics from the trip, not just the motorcycle.
