PLAN THE ULTIMATE BIKE TOUR TO LADAKH
Every departure runs from our own workshop on Karzu Rd in Leh, on LA-02 registered Royal Enfield motorcycles. Ladakh's rental union rules mean a bike hired outside the region cannot legally run the Nubra and Pangong circuits, so where the bike is registered decides where you are allowed to ride it.
Who these tours suit
Riders who hold a valid motorcycle licence and have ridden a loaded 350-450cc machine on rough surfaces before. You do not need Himalayan experience — our lead riders grew up on these passes — but you should be comfortable with loose gravel, water crossings and long days in the saddle.
Who should not book
Be honest with yourself here, because altitude is unforgiving and turning back mid-route is expensive for everyone. Skip a guided departure if this would be your first time on a motorcycle, if you cannot ride for six hours a day, or if you have a heart or respiratory condition without written clearance from your doctor. Every route on this page crosses passes above 5,000m, and we mandate 48 hours of acclimatisation in Leh before departure for exactly that reason.
Guided departure or self-drive rental?
Take a guided departure if you want permits, fuel planning, luggage transport and a mechanic handled for you, or if you are riding solo and would rather not be alone at 5,000m. Rent a bike instead if you have ridden at altitude before, are travelling with your own group, and want to set your own daily pace. Both run on the same fleet from the same workshop.
Where you start changes the trip more than the route does. Beginning in Manali means the hardest riding comes first, on days two and three, before you have acclimatised. Starting in Srinagar climbs more gradually and is the gentler introduction. Flying into Leh skips the approach entirely and suits riders short on time, at the cost of two rest days on arrival.
