WHY BOOK THE GROUND OPERATOR DIRECT
Most European- and US-branded Ladakh motorcycle tours are not run by the company selling them. They are subcontracted to an operator in Leh. We are that kind of operator. This page shows you what the brand layer costs, what it buys, and when it is worth paying for.
HOW A BRANDED LADAKH TOUR IS ACTUALLY ASSEMBLED
A tour company in Germany or the UK does not own motorcycles in Leh, does not employ mechanics in Leh, and cannot file an Inner Line Permit at the Leh magistrate's office. None of those things are possible from abroad. What they do is contract a registered Ladakhi operator to supply all of it — the fleet, the support vehicle, the mechanic, the hotels, the permits, the road captain — and then sell that package under their own name with their own tour leader attached.
That is a legitimate business. The tour leader is real, the language support is real, and for some riders it is worth the money. But the bike you ride, the hands that fix it and the truck behind you are supplied by a company like ours either way. When you book a brand, you pay for the ground operator plus the brand. When you book us, you pay for the ground operator.
We are not describing this from the outside. Aryan Ladakh Tour & Travel has been the operator on the ground since 2015, at Karzu Rd in Leh, with our own workshop and our own fleet.
WHAT A LADAKH RIDING DAY COSTS, BY OPERATOR
Per rider, per day, guided and all-inclusive. Per-day is the only fair comparison — a 14-day trip and a 6-day trip are not the same product, and a headline total hides that. Our own figure is computed from the live prices on this site, so it changes when they do.
| Operator | Based in | Trip | Published price | Per rider / day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ladakh Bikers (direct) | Leh, Ladakh — we are the ground operator | 6–9 days | $950–$1,250 | $138–$159 |
| Royal Enfield (official factory ride) | India — national brand programme | 10 days | $2,500 | $250 |
| Classic Bike Adventure | Germany — ground handling subcontracted in India | 14 days | $3,690 | $264 |
| Himalayan Heroes | United Kingdom — ground handling subcontracted in India | 12 days | $4,190 | $349 |
What each price includes, and where we read it
- Royal Enfield (official factory ride) — Motorcycle, fuel, hotels, support vehicle, guides. Source, read 2026-09-01.
- Classic Bike Adventure — Motorcycle, fuel, hotels, support vehicle, German-speaking tour leader, and domestic flights within India. The flights are a real inclusion and are why this figure is not directly comparable to ours. Source, read 2026-09-01.
- Himalayan Heroes — Motorcycle, fuel, hotels, support vehicle, UK-based tour leader. Source, read 2026-09-01.
These are third-party prices and they move between seasons. Check them yourself before you book — that is the point of publishing the links. If you find one out of date, tell us and we will correct this page.
WHEN YOU SHOULD BOOK A EUROPEAN BRAND INSTEAD
Booking direct is not the right answer for every rider, and an operator who tells you it is, is selling. Book the brand if:
- You want a tour leader who speaks your first language for the whole trip. Our road captains work in English and Hindi, plus Ladakhi and Urdu. We do not staff German, Spanish, French or Italian leaders.
- You want a single contract governed by consumer law in your own country. A booking with us is governed by Indian law — that is a real difference in what you can enforce and where.
- You want package-travel financial protection of the kind a UK ATOL or German insolvency-insurance scheme provides. We are a Leh operator and are not inside those schemes.
- You want your domestic flights inside India bundled into one price. Some European packages include them; ours never do.
- You want someone in your timezone to answer the phone within the hour. We are IST — see the response times on our contact page before you decide.
If none of those matter to you, the brand layer is the only thing left in the price difference.
WHO YOU ACTUALLY RIDE WITH
Not a subcontractor list. These are the people on our own payroll at Karzu Rd, and they are the same people a branded tour would be buying if it ran this route.

THE TEST WE WOULD APPLY TO ANY OPERATOR, INCLUDING US
Ask whoever you are booking with whether a foreign passport holder can ride to Umling La. The correct answer is no. Umling La, Mig La, Chushul, Demchok, Tsaga La and Loma sit in restricted border zones closed to foreign nationals — including NRI and OCI cardholders — and no Protected Area Permit is issued for them at any price.
Operators sell Umling La to overseas riders anyway, because it is the highest motorable road in the world and it sells trips. Those riders are turned back at an army checkpost. We publish which of our own routes touch a closed sector, on the tour page itself, above the itinerary — and we re-plan that day and confirm the replacement in writing before taking a deposit.
Hanle is genuinely open to you on a Protected Area Permit, with conditions we handle as a registered Leh agency: a minimum of two foreign nationals on one permit, a registered Astro-stay, and printed copies for every checkpost. Full permit rules for foreign riders
