Essential information for domestic and international riders planning a motorcycle adventure in high-altitude Ladakh.
Yes! We organize regular group departures (15-30 riders) once or twice a month starting from Manali and Srinagar/Kashmir. They are designed specifically for solo travelers and budget riders to join a larger group, meet new people, and enjoy a shared adventure. The cost is highly economical, at around ₹30K per person, and includes all essential gear and support.
Our Group departures are fully-managed and include: a Royal Enfield motorcycle, stays in hotels and deluxe camps (twin-sharing), breakfast & dinner, riding gear (ECE helmet, CE jacket, gloves, knee guards), inner line permits, a professional technician, a backup support truck for luggage, and group party bonfire/houseboat events.
Yes, foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) to visit border areas like Pangong Tso and Nubra Valley. Unlike domestic permits, PAP requires a minimum group of 2 foreigners and must be processed through a registered travel agent in Leh. Ladakh Bikers handles all PAP permit processing for you; just submit your passport and visa copies upon arrival.
Once your tour booking deposit is confirmed, our office provides official booking confirmation vouchers and visa invitation letters to support your Indian Tourist Visa application. Our team is experienced in helping European and Southeast Asian riders secure their paperwork early.
Safety is our absolute priority. We mandate 48 hours of rest in Leh (3,500m) at the start of every tour. On all guided expeditions, our backup support vehicles carry emergency portable oxygen cylinders, pulse oximeters, first-aid trauma kits, and satellite communicators for areas without cellular coverage.
Our premium fleet features Royal Enfield Himalayan 450s (liquid-cooled adventure bikes) and Himalayan 411s. Every motorcycle undergoes a strict 30-point mechanical inspection—including brakes, chain tension, sprockets, and engine tuning—by our Royal Enfield-trained mechanics in Leh before handing it over.
The peak riding season runs from early June to late September. During these months, both the Manali-Leh and Srinagar-Leh highways are open, mountain passes are free of heavy snow, and daytime temperatures are ideal for riding (15°C to 25°C).
To avoid heavy fines (often up to ₹5,000) and vehicle seizures by local cooperatives, tourists cannot drive outside-registered commercial vehicles or rented motorcycles (bearing DL, HP, PB, etc.) to border areas like Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, or Hanle. Only private vehicles registered in the traveler's own name, or locally rented LA-02 registered bikes from Leh, are permitted. We recommend flying to Leh and renting a local bike directly from our base camp to avoid fine risks.
Umling La (19,300 ft) requires a specific Changthang circuit Inner Line Permit. Indian nationals can apply for this online and get it stamped in Leh. However, due to its proximity to the Line of Actual Control (LAC), foreign nationals are strictly barred from visiting Hanle or Umling La. Ladakh Bikers handles all permit processing for our riders.
We provide one DOT/ECE-certified helmet with every bike. We also have CE-level protective jackets, riding pants, gloves, knee guards, waterproof luggage carriers, and mobile phone holders available for rent at our Leh base camp workshop.
